Funding Graduate School

At the University of Missouri-St. Louis, we strive to provide our graduate students with a competitive, challenging and enriching academic experience as a public research university that is both top-ranked nationally and more affordable than most other universities in the area. UMSL also offers numerous ways for our graduate students to obtain funding, including:

Financial Aid 
Visit the Student Financial Aid office to learn more and apply for scholarships, loans and grants.

Assistantships
UMSL offers many graduate assistantships. Check with your degree program advisor to see if there are any assistantships available in your program.

Fellowships
UMSL offers a number of graduate fellowships.

Funding Opportunities for Groups That Are Underrepresented
National organizations that promote a more diverse population in graduate education offer a variety of fellowships and scholarships for students from backgrounds that are under-represented in graduate schools.

This program makes out-of-state tuition more affordable for students from certain states.
